Remarketing

The people who nearly got in touch

Most people who visit your website leave without calling, filling anything in, or buying. That is normal — they were comparing, or busy, or not quite ready. It is also the single biggest pool of nearly-customers you have, and once they close the tab they are usually gone for good.

Remarketing is how you get a second go. A small piece of code on your site quietly notes who has been, and your ad is then shown back to those people while they are elsewhere — reading the news, watching YouTube, scrolling social. Everyone else carries on seeing nothing.

Why it is usually the cheapest advertising you can buy

Ordinary advertising pays to reach strangers, most of whom will never want what you sell. Remarketing pays to reach people who have already been to your website and looked at the thing you do. You are not creating interest, you are reminding someone who already had some — which is why the cost per enquiry is normally far lower than any other paid channel.

What it needs to work

  • Enough visitors to build an audience. This is the honest limit. A site with a few dozen visitors a month has nobody to remarket to. If your traffic is thin, the money is better spent getting found in the first place — and we will tell you so.
  • A tag on your website. One-off, and included with any SEO package. We set it up, verify it is firing, and exclude the pages that should not count.
  • An ad budget, paid directly to the platform. Worth being clear about: Google and Meta bill you for the clicks themselves, on your own account. That spend is separate from anything on this page, and it is yours to set and change.
  • Somewhere sensible to send them. An ad that returns someone to a page they already ignored is a wasted click.

Done properly, it should be barely noticeable

Remarketing gets a bad name when it is done without limits — the same advert following someone for a month after they bought. We cap how often anyone sees it, stop showing it after a sensible window, and exclude people who have already enquired or purchased. The aim is to be a timely reminder, not a shadow.
